Schools and Non-Profits
Schools
Florida Statutes requires schools who participate in certain funding and scholarship programs and receive more than $250,000 to file fiscal accountability reports, in the form of agreed-upon procedures, which must be conducted and reviewed by a Florida CPA. Some of the common scholarship programs include:
- Florida Tax Credit Scholarships (Step Up for Students)
- Gardiner Scholarships
- John M. McKay Scholarships
- Hope Scholarships
The State of Florida requires that the agreed-upon procedures report be submitted by a Florida CPA firm subject to a peer review under standards established by the AICPA and monitored by the FICPA. Our firm is included on the list of firms provided by Step Up for Students to schools for consideration. We have at least 100 successful submissions to Step up for Students of these agreed-upon procedure reports and have been submitting reports since the early inception of the program. We have also advised dozens of schools on the appropriate procedures required for their reporting and record-keeping requirements and helped them correct their systems. Additionally, we have helped them draft and implement the Corrective Action Plan that the state requires of schools with material exceptions. We communicate frequently with the program’s administration and our team is trained on the program requirements yearly.
Non-profits

We use best practices to assist in planning, recording and reporting to ensure that organizations are in compliance and are accountable for their finances.
What We Offer
We have years of experience assisting schools with their fiscal accountability reports and also offer assistance with internal controls and accounting systems and procedures to identify any errors or deficiencies. Once reviews are conducted, we work hand in hand with school administrators to strategically address and plan correcting any found deficiencies.
